Aomori Visit

The English camp run by Luke's parents was lots of fun and I was really excited to help out. As it was, they were going to be a little short staffed this summer for the camp so it was great that Emi and I were able to go.

Here is Lukes father, John Elliot, during one of the morning sessions.

And here he is as the proud new grandfather Elliot! I'm not sure, but I think that week was the first time he had seen Emma Grace.

The Camp was four days and three nights and we did lots of fun stuff with the "campers". It was more of a seminar then a camp but they want to have that camp feel to attract young people I guess so they do things like cook outs and camp fires... I really enjoyed it!

This was the small group that I had discussion class with every day. It was the oldest group and also probably the group with the strongest English.

Song time with Luke's mom!

And of course you can't have a camp without skit night. At least from a Word of Life Canada perspective. I mean, after all though s summers together Luke and I could pretty much do any skit we knew with little or no practice.

This was the whole group together on the last day, except for one or two who had to go home early because of work. There were 13 students I believe.

After the four days of camp Emi and I went to Luke and Yuko's home in Shimokita which is about as far north in Honshu as it gets. Actually I have a picture here that Luke took showing me standing at the "north pole" of Honshu. It was pretty awesome in Shimokita and when the sky was clear we could see Hokkiado which was less them 20 km away.

It was during those two days at Luke's that we filmed Operation Bearwatch The Movie. Which is finally up and paying on Luke's blog, Gaijin for Life.

The Special "Making Of" Operation Bearwatch should be finished and running on this website in a day or two.
