Hey everybody! I arrived in Japan safely two days ago. It was an overwhelming flight, of over 13 hours! I finally landed in Narita airport at 1:30pm local time and had to wait for a bus to take me into the city so I just waited around the airport for an hour or so. There were no problems at immagration. The Bus trip into the city took me right to Shibuya and lasted about another hour.

I would have liked to update this for you sooner but its been pretty busy and the jet lag has really stolen my motivation. Sadly today was the start of the rainy season, otherwise I would have taken more pictures of my walks around the neighborhood today and yestaurday. There will be time for lots more exploring I'm sure!

I'm staying in the guest room at the Kato's house in Tokyo. Sangenjaya is the actual name of our town. It literally means "three tea houses". The room I am in is the largest bedroom in the house and I feel a little guilty for being in there. They have foriegn guests staying here every summer so its always in use. Emi's parents are so graicious to me. They are trying to treat me to the best experiance that Japan can offer. I think they just want to make sure I have a favorable impression of Japan and Japanese people, and so far the experiance has been great! Such good food! Emi's mom is a terrific cook!

I went to a store this morning to buy coffee and no one spoke english, and it was probably the most fun I've had! ;)
Next week I will start work translating letters and documents for Word of Life Japan. And today I will meet Mana for the first time. She is one of the girls that I will be tutoring this summer in English.

So even though I'm still a little jet lagged, there is no time to waste! If the weather clears up this afternoon maybe We'll go out and take some pictures and I'll put them up here tomorrow...
