I returned to Tokyo from Karuizawa Saturday evening. I checked my emails and discovered that Manny had been traded to the Dodgers. I also found out that they are making a sequel to 1982's TRON. Hmm..how should I feel? ...I went to bed. The next day I went to Yamanashi.

Yamanashi-ken (山梨県) is about 2 hours train ride from Tokyo. Most of the prefecture is either on or surrounded by mountains. Yama meaning mountian, and 'nashi meaning pear. Emi has relatives there who operate a peach orchard among other things, and we were invited to stay for a few days.
We always eat well when we are with Emi's family and this was not any different. Just as last year we were there just in time for Masaru-san's birthday. Last year we went out for yaki-niku, and this year he cooked for all of us! I've not eaten more in a single meal ever in my life!

We took advantage of all the nearby natural beauty while we were there. Here are Emi and I in front of a shrine. Of course that in itself is not very impressive...
