Sacramento

I had a few days off last week here in Sacramento and the weather finally warmed up so instead of hanging around the hotel I went out and explored the city. I went down town and found a park and a museum called the Crocker Art Museum.

A new Buddha exhibit. Some of these figurines date to before Christ.

Japanese Buddhist artifacts.

1800 year old Buddha

Huge "Gallery" style room. In this style, paintings are hanged all the way to the ceiling, with the more popular pieces at eye level. Popular in Europe before 1900.

The Huge center painting is of turn of the century Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park. In the distance you can see El Capitan.

St. Joseph with the child Jesus.

I enjoyed my day at the museum. I think I paid $6.50 for my pass, which I consider totally worth it. There is a lot more in the Crocker Art Museum than I could put up here on the website, and if you're visiting Sacramento I think it would be worth spending an afternoon there. It's just a few blocks from the State Capitol building down town.
I'll be in Sacramento for a couple more weeks and I should have one or two more days when I'm not working so we'll see what else I can find.
