Ubuntu: Linux for Human Beings

Murphy struck once again just two days before I leave for Tokyo! My laptop suffered a near fatal error. After working on the problem for nearly 48 hours I finally brought it back to life.
It turned out to be a memory issue. I was still getting errors when I tried to reinstall Windows Vista, and so I tried a XP disk I borrowed from Brytor. It still crashed either during the installation process or immediately after boot up. So after swapping out some Ram and multiple formats later, I am now running Linux for the first time. Ubuntu to be precise.

I probably could have gotten Windows XP to work with help from Jason and Bryan, but there just isn't time for that if I want to take this laptop with me to Japan. So for now, I guess I'll learn Linux. After all, If Luke Elliot can do it...well, I digress.

Yes, if even I can handle Linux . . . . I didn't even know what reformatting a hard drive was all about when I first started using it. I just wanted to be cool :P Of course, now that I'm stuck using a seven-year old PowerBook G4 I can't be cool anymore (I don't think my PowerBook would be able to handle even xubuntu).

By the way, your new blog template is awesome! In fact, I was immediately tempted to use it myself, only to discover that it doesn't seem to be available among the standard blogspot template choices. (Don't worry, I wouldn't really be a copycat and steal your look . . . I would have waited until you got bored of it, moved on to another template, and everyone had forgotten that you had ever used it ;-)
